New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out the FASTag annual pass across the nation starting Friday, aiming to leverage technology to improve the 'ease of living' for citizens, as stated in an official announcement.
According to the announcement, the annual pass has garnered significant interest from users of national highways.
By 4:30 PM on its launch day, approximately 120,000 users had purchased and activated the annual pass, with around 124,000 transactions recorded at toll plazas.
This annual pass offers a convenient and cost-effective travel solution for national highway users, allowing them to avoid frequent FASTag recharges. For a one-time fee of ₹3,000, users can enjoy one year of validity or up to 200 toll plaza crossings on National Highways and Expressways throughout the country.
The pass is available for all non-commercial vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag and becomes active within two hours of payment via the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website.
With a penetration rate nearing 98% and over 80 million users, FASTag has transformed the Electronic Toll Collection system in India, according to the statement.
The launch of the annual pass is expected to enhance the FASTag user experience, making travel on National Highways and Expressways more economical and seamless.
